Macmillan is always looking to move into exciting new areas of publishing, and this is exemplified by a new title that is coming in early 2008, Aviation English. From 5th March 2008, all pilots flying internationally, as well as air traffic controllers managing international traffic, must demonstrate proficiency in plain English (based on the ICAO level 4 guidelines). This new regulation has been brought in to ensure pilots and air traffic controllers alike are communicating without trouble – which should make us all feel a bit happier next time we get on a plane!
